Fresh, vibrant, with pronounced acidity, very aromatic and with slight reminders of ageing on fine lees, a good palate with the typical minerality of a wine of Atlantic origin.

Constantina Sotelo
Located in the Galician region of Rías Baixas, on the northwestern coast of Spain, down in the Salnés valley, and neighboring Cambado, the heart of albariño, Constantina Sotelo is a family-owned micro-project whose origins date back from the 18th century. Throughout the generations, the family has always made wine for its own consumption and also to sell to local residents until eventually, in 1999, with the creation of the label “Constantina Sotelo,” the wines became available to the lovers of genuine, traditionally distinctive Galician wines.
It is not an easy task for Sotelo to recreate the way her ancestors used to make wine, since the biological cycle of the vineyards is nowadays very different; the inevitable change of the timing and techniques of pruning and tying of the vines, as well as the readjustment of their fallow system (vineyards are only allowed to recover on certain winters), has indeed affected the whole ecosystem. As such, Sotelo’s vineyards are “as savage as their climate,” which sparks off a constant and tenacious fight in order to avoid mildew and other diseases of the grapevines.
In the cellar, or better, in the micro-cellar, all the vinification process is finally rewarded. Wine is made in a totally natural way – nothis is added, nothing is taking away –, and fermentation and ageing occur in chestnut and oak barrels, stainless steel tanks, concrete and terracotta eggs, amphorae, and demijohns. Here there’s no limits for Sotelo’s creative expression, regardless of the future commercial fortune of the wine or the opinion of any DO’s tasting panel, because her goal is to craft wines that are trully the expression of their terroir, and so each wine is a unique, unparalleled piece, that may be found scattered around the world on the wine lists of prestigious restaurants and wine bars, famous for the support of natural wines.
Red grapes are vinified as white wine. Aged in amphora, it will definitely last many years in the bottle. Decant it, if you can’t resist opening it now.
Captivating olfactory palette, with intense aromas of citrus, white flowers and a touch of anise, but above all, with a marked volcanic structure. On the palate it is vibrant and fresh, with lively acidity giving structure and a persistent saline finish.
Crystalline yellow, paler than shiny. Green apple acidity, wonderfully refreshing. The finish is like sucking on a white peach pit. Ideal for chicken or shrimp with Asian spices. In a blind tasting, you'd swear it was an authentic Loire Chenin.
A wine with several layers of flavours and aromas. On the nose it shows elegant notes of white fruit, herbaceous fragrances and flowers. On the palate it is full-bodied, mineral and juicy, with a crisp and lingering finish.
An exceptionally characterful vintage, showing a remarkable balance between acidity and tension, highlighting the vineyard's typical salinity. On tasting it reveals itself as precise, structured and harmonious, with great definition and freshness. A wine of distinct character, with long ageing potential.
The nose is intense, with floral notes, aromas of very ripe apple and menthol. On the palate it is full-bodied, with a subtle honeyed touch, revealing itself to be surprisingly fresh and delicate. The slight oxidative touch gives it a good finish. It's a complex and introspective wine!
A complex wine, presenting a palette of aromas of lemon, orange peel, ginger and spices. On the palate it is vigorous, intense and refreshing. Long and persistent finish.
Despite being an orange wine, it preserves the aromatic notes typical of Albariño, lemon and green apple. It has a good volume in the mouth, being unctuous and astringent, and its balanced and saline acidity make this complex and vibrant wine an excellent companion for the table.
